What You Overhear at the Office

From the other side of the cubicle:

She: (in threatening tone) You'd better learn not to laugh at me.

He: (in earnest) I'm sorry. I'll try not to find things funny. I mean, it's not what you're saying, it's just that you say it with kind of a whiny voice. I hope you don't take that wrong.

She: Oh.

He: It's just the whining that I think is funny. I mean, I know going to the hospital is not that funny.

Oh the secrets that cubicles hold...or not. Whiny voices are funny, serious subject matter or not.

Going to the hospital really should be funny. You should go to Utah Valley Regioanal Medical Center's Cafe West on Omelette Night. They have some real characters working those nights, and they even swear at you if you can't decide what to put on your omelette. It's hard to find entertainment like that in Provo these days!

I just got a call from my phone service provider. They asked permission to pull up my personal information.

I said that depends, will everyone else be able to hear it? I can hear the personal informaton of Ms. ______ the customer service rep is reciting in the next cubicle.

I got passed on to the supervisor. After I recited the personal information I overheard, I told her she might want to look into the situation. And I wouldn't be giving my permission for anyone to pull up my information anytime soon.

anyway, nice post

That's choice. Saturday I was waiting for someone to get out of the grocery store and got to witness as big fight between teenage lovers...he was trying to get her to get out of the car, talking to her, cajoling her, she was so snotty and mad...wouldn't even look at him. It was so funny we stayed a little longer just to watch. :)

redlaw: I will give the poor guy your support.

dp: I guess I'd never thought of the hospital quite in that way.

stranger: thanks for that story. it reminds me that I should never talk to people like that on the phone.

panini: nothing is quite so disturbing or entertaining as young, semi-violent lovers.
